Rapallo – Montallegro

Unmissable excursion for everyone!

The Sanctuary of Montallegro, located about 600 m above sea level, represents an inevitable ascent for anyone in Rapallo. As well as by car, it can be reached in three ways: along the ancient mule track that runs through centuries-old holm oaks; going up the Tuia Valley along a shady path between mills and streams and finally, by cable car. Furthermore, panoramic hiking trails depart from the Sanctuary to reach other interesting places. The cable car, in operation since 1934, is also equipped for the transport of mountain bikes, if you want to take advantage of the routes at high altitude without too much effort!

Curiosity: Along the mule track there are still the remains of an ancient ice house built to conserve the snow and turn it into ice; it was used until the mid 19th century.
