Cubeletti

The sweet side of Rapallo!

Cubeletti are delicious shortcrust pastries filled with jam of quince grown in the Rapallo area since 1200. Cubeletti were once prepared for the feast of Sant’Agata, on February 5th. A historic city pastry shop has been serving them since 1862 in the original shape and recipe.
Cubeletti have obtained the De.C.O. (traditional local product certification) in 2012.

Curiosity: It seems that the name “cubeletto” was an ironic reference to the cap worn by the Austrian troops who occupied Liguria in the eighteenth century!
